tOn April 27,2007 the very first Anne McCarthy Award was given to the person who's name is reflected in the award "Anne McCarthy". The presentation was made on stage during the "Uplifting Life" fundraising concert in Winter Park, Florida.
Having never met Anne McCarthy before Keith awarded Anne with a plaque with the following engraved text.
"This award is given to a person with remarkable empathy, compassion and the ability for action.
The recipient, having embodied and embraced true selfless giving, is an example for all of us as we strive to raise consciousness as well as funds to assist ALS patients and their families."
The incredible gift Anne had made to the LaMotte family some 2.5 years earlier when she was in the 7th grade so inspired the Foundation that it was a "given" that the name of the award be named after Anne.
